When Will It end?

With no signs yet of letting up, I often wonder when the Covid 19 crisis will finally end. Will we ever return to a normal life again where we can go out any time and do things freely? With the way the virus spreads globally and stays where it is, it seems lockdown is here to stay. [Picture above by Daniel Lermen, Unsplash].

Well, I hope not. But it sure looks like it. China claims it has significantly lowered its Covid incidence, but it remains to be seen. I, for one, cannot take China's word for it, given how it tried to suppress truth by persecuting the Chinese whistle blower, Li Wenliang, who it said was spreading fake news on the Net.

And consider the reported recurrence of the illness in those who had already recovered from it and tested negative but show signs again. Like in South Korea.

When will it end? What if it doesn't?

Even if it does end on, say, the month of May, will you dare go out and think the world has truly become Covid-free? I heard one expert say it could be 4 years before we can really be confident about it.

Four years. Let that sink in for a while.

I remember Noah and his family "quarantined" in the Ark for more than 150 days. Several days after 150 days, they finally went out. But back then, he didn't know when, or if they'd ever go out. All he knew was that the whole world was under water. It rained 40 days and 40 nights, but the world remained submerged far beyond that period.

He also probably asked himself, "When will it end?" After 40 days, the rains stopped. That he knew. But the whole world was still under the flood which was some 20 feet higher than the highest mountain peak--probably Mt. Everest? Noah probably wondered if the floods would ever disappear and land would ever reappear. When he peeped out the window, he saw nothing but long stretches of floodwaters in all directions.

Well, I can also imagine God talking with him and updating him of what was going on outside the Ark. But for some reason, God didn't tell him when it would be all over. If he did, Noah wouldn't have to release the raven and the dove to find out if it was safe to go out. When all signs said it was safe, they were finally out. It was finally all over.

I'm sure Covid will be over, too. I just can't see how and when. As long as God reigns and rules, everything on earth will come to an end. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken so that what remain are God's unshakable things. For now, God is shaking everything--and especially shaking what we thought we badly needed in life. He's shaking them to show us they're nothing but garbage. And I hope we see it.

It's a shame to not see what God's doing before all this ends.
