Covid-Free in One Day

How about waking up tomorrow morning to a covid-free Philippines? As of March 27, 2020 the Department of Health website shows 803 confirmed cases so far (with 54 dead according to the news). But all that could be gone in a matter of minutes or even seconds if God wills it. It can happen with the right mindset and imagination. [Image above by Michael Longmire, Unsplash].

Remember the great Assyrian threat against Israel that was wiped out entirely in one night with 185,000 enemy soldiers killed just like that? [2 Kings 19.35]. Or how morning and evening were created as soon as God released the Word (probably 2 or 3 seconds after?) or how all sea and air creatures suddenly appeared on earth perhaps a split second right after God said so. In fact, God can create a whole nation in a day [Isaiah 66.8].

So making a country or the whole world covid-free tomorrow or a minute from now is a piece of cake to Him. No sweat. All he has to do is speak the Word, with or without our faith.

Ordinarily, it is faith that ignites God's miracles that move mountains. Jesus told the woman with issue of blood for 12 years, "Your faith has healed you." But some people stretch that too much and say that without our faith no miracle is possible. Yeah, we can't please God without faith, but our faith does not limit HIS powers. He created the whole universe without anyone's faith.

But as His sons and daughters (if we have truly surrendered our lives to Jesus, received him as Lord and Savior, and repented of our sins) God wants us to participate in his divine nature. So he gives us the power to also make things happen supernaturally by merely releasing the word. Just say the Word. We have to develop that faith.

If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. [Mark 11]

See the just-say-the-word Kingdom principle? God just said the Word and the universe was created. Jesus did a lot of miracles by just saying a word. Now, he wants true believers to do the same thing. If the church believes this in her heart, she'd simply say the word and the Philippines (even the world) could be Covid-free in one day. Or even right after saying it.

Church should be doing this instead of wasting time in man-made programs and activities and similar gimmicks they call "ministry." They should be developing this kind of radical faith, saying the Word that God sends to their spirits and then released through their mouths to call things into existence.

Of course, this looks impossible and far-fetched today because the church has drifted a long way from God's will and plan, wasting time in man's theology and denominational doctrines. Some church people even think trying the supernatural is stupid. Even I have difficulties restoring the spiritual gifts in me. But I never give up because I know it's God's will--it's there plainly laid out in Scriptures.

By God's grace I and my wife have gained some grounds on this matter--spiritual gifts, signs and wonders and supernatural miracles and healing--though not enough. We have to press on until we see real faith in Christ face-to-face, not just seeing through a glass darkly.

At the same time, I see the Covid crisis as God's way of judging the world in these end times, making us see how we are helpless without Him despite our modernity and sophistication--and especially how the world has been blatantly defying him in all its ways. Yup, even the church. If God is doing this, then it's unwise to pray something to the contrary. If he is destroying the modern idols of this world, we should not pray that he stop it.

After he has utterly demolished all the idols, then we can pray to be Covid-free in one day.
