When I read something, I have the habit of seeking out knowledge that is too wonderful to me [Psalm 139.6]. Then everything is opened up and comes alive--like I'm watching a movie in 3D. Often, you find nuggets of wonderful knowledge in inconspicuous corners of a popular verse or quote, read past by most people and seldom taken seriously by experts. I like mining these "hidden treasures" which are plainly seen but seldom noticed. So one day, while preparing to sleep, I decided to do some Mined Power searching.
I love seeking out thoughts like that. When you share them, people often say, "I know I've read it somewhere, but I never really noticed it before!" Most people have ready eyes for the obvious but ignore the background and tiny details. But backgrounds are where crucial things often appear, without which the main subject often becomes weak and uninteresting. In fact, backgrounds usually get my attention more than anything else.

When I was an architecture student, we would do still life artworks in charcoal or ink. And often, I would emphasize on the background more than the subject. That mistake was corrected in time, but I still took visual note of the backgrounds than the subject. When I view panoramic mountain scenes, I always look at the distant backgrounds, faintly discernible yet more exhilarating and inspiring to me.
God hides the obvious in small details and vice versa. He buries deep things in shallow depths and "covers" answers with the very lids of our eyes, so that often we see a lot but never perceive, "always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth," said Paul the apostle. Which is especially true among indulgent theologians of the modern Areopagus.
No amount of human intelligence--titles, degrees or advanced schooling--can unravel the deep mysteries of God, except that you stay intimate with Him and keep still, hedged in by the exclusive boundaries of his Presence--available only for those with ears to hear and eyes to see. That alone makes such knowledge too wonderful to nonjoiners whose eyes and ears God has opened.
